Robbers and thieves are targeting people with IPhones and IPODs. Avoid displaying or using them in public, ESPECIALLY ON MUNI!!! To maximize your personal safety, take a minute to plan and prepare for safety before leaving your home.

- Digital music players and cell phones are a common target of thieves and robbers. Wearing headphones and ear buds greatly reduce your ability to hear and distracts you from potential dangers.
- Limit your valuables by carrying only what you need.
- When on the street, be ALERT and AWARE at all times. Keep good eye contact with the people around you. Walk with confidence and purpose. Most victims will be targeted because they appear not to be paying attention to their surroundings.
- A handbag or book bag with a strap should not be worn across the body. It should be carried under the arm and released if grabbed. This will prevent your body from being pulled to the ground.
- If taking public transportation, have your money or Fast Pass ready. Do not fumble with your wallet; you might draw attention to a pickpocket.
- Trust your instincts. If you feel uncomfortable or threatened by another person(s), seek help immediately. A whistle is a great device to have when you need to call attention to yourself.

- Los aparatos de música digital son blancos communes de los ladrones y rateros. Llevando puestos los audífonos se reduce mucho su capacidad de escughar y le distrae del peligro posible.
- Si toma transporte público, mantenga su dinero o “Fast Pass” listo. No busque con tanteos en la billetera; puede llamar la atenciόn de un ratero.
- Confíe en su instinto. Si se siente incómodo o amenazado por otra(s) persona(s) busque ayuda de inmediato. Un silbato es un gran aparato para tener cuando necesita llamar la atenciόn hacía usted.
